Panko Sweet and Spicy Mushrooms

These Panko Sweet and Spicy mushrooms are perfectly crispy and coated in the most delicious, sticky, sweet and spicy sauce.

 

This recipe came to existence when I was thinking about how to use my  sweet and spicy sauce with veggies.

These Panko Sweet and Spicy Mushrooms are coated in panko, fried to perfection, then tossed in a  finger licking sweet and spicy sauce.They are delicious and make it in one pan in  less than 30 minutes from start to finish !!

Easy ingredients, budget-friendly and perfect for busy weeknight vegetarian dinners, when you want to cook less and eat more. Give it a try and you will see why this is one of the best Asian vegan comfort food !!

 

Also, you can make a sauce in advance and simply store it in the refrigerator. That way, you will save time and have a delicious meal to enjoy the whole week.

Ingredients

250 grams button mushrooms , cleaned and dabbed dry and dredge the mushrooms in 2 tablespoons of corn starch

 

For Sweet and Spicy Sauce

2 large garlic cloves

1/2 teaspoon chopped  fresh ginger

2 tablespoons of brown sugar

1 tablespoon of crushed black pepper

1 tablespoon of soy sauce

A splash of vinegar

Salt

1 cup of water

 

Panko Bread Crust

1 cup of Panko bread crumbs

1/2 cup of plain flour

1 tablespoon of corn starch

Salt and pepper to taste

Onion powder

Garlic powder

Paprika

 

Corn flour wash

3 tablespoons of cornflour mix with 1/2 cup of water in a bowl.

Direction

First dredge the mushrooms in cornstarch then in cornflour mixture then in panko crust and fry.

Then tossed in Sweet and Spicy Sauce.

Serve it with hot steamed rice or noodles .
